Panic Bar & Exit Device Installation Ottawa
Ontario Building Code requires approved panic hardware on commercial exit doors in many occupancies. Best K Locksmith supplies and installs Von Duprin, Falcon, and Detex exit devices for full code compliance across Ottawa.
What Is Panic Hardware?
A panic bar is a locking bar mechanism mounted horizontally across an exit door. When pushed from inside, the door unlatches immediately — no key, handle turn, or code required. This allows rapid egress in emergencies and is the basis of fire code exit requirements.
Ontario Building Code Requirements
Section 3.4.6 of the Ontario Building Code specifies panic hardware requirements based on occupancy type and occupant load. As a general rule, doors in exits serving more than 100 persons (Group A), healthcare facilities, and certain industrial occupancies require approved panic hardware. We assess your occupancy classification and recommend the appropriate hardware.
